JIM Duffy has recruited Rangers and Scotland legend Andy Goram as Dundee's goalkeeping coach - for nothing!

Duffy used the old pals act to tempt the 41-year-old back into football and expects The Goalie to soon return to the game on a full-time basis.

"I've known Andy for 20 years, ever since we used to room together as over-age players in the Scotland Under-21 squad," said the Dens Park gaffer.

"We often bump into each other at dinners and we've always been friendly so I spoke to him about helping me out and I believe it will help Andy out as well.

"He wants to learn the workings of a football club, the disciplines and the routines and this is his chance.

"I think we sometimes make too much about coaching badges and it's wrong for someone of Andy's vast experience not to be involved."

Goram will start on an informal, part-time basis but Duffy reckons that situation won't last for too long.

He said: "Andy has a pub to run and our agreement is that he'll come up when he can and we won't pay him - but once he gets his teeth into it I think he'll want to do it full-time."

Goram had earlier rejected the offer to link up with former Rangers player Graham Roberts, who was hoping he would take on a role at Clyde.
