Story of girl's sex assaults 'all lies'.
A schoolgirl's story of living in a haunted house and having a sex predator for a stepdad is a 'load of twaddle', the man's barrister has said. Yesterday, Stephen Jeary told the jury at Cardiff Crown Court the case against the defendant was built on lies. The 42-year-old stepfather, who cannot be named because his young accuser must not be identified, says she and her mother are making it up, to get him out of their lives. In his closing speech, Mr Jeary said holes in the wall, through which the man is alleged to have thread fishing wire to move objects in the girl's bedroom, were in the wrong place to create the illusion of a poltergeist.'They actually came out behind the child's wardrobe not above it,' he said.
'The police hadn't seen them when they went there - he was in prison on remand when they were found - what's that all about?
'Only three people in the world know the truth - the defendant, the mother and the girl herself.
'Why are you being told this load of twaddle?'
