McChesneys to speak: Marcia and Bill McChesney, active members of the local track and field and road racing community for decades, will talk about the sport in Eugene at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Eugene Running Company at Oakway Center. A late son, Billy McChesney, starred at Oregon and made the U.S. Olympic team at 5,000 meters in 1980.

Juniors stepping up: Remember the USA National Junior Olympics at Hayward Field four years ago? Some of those athletes are in college now, and might return to Eugene for the Olympic Trials. Keep track of sprinters Bianca Knight and Alexandria Anderson, now at Texas, and hurdler Kevin Craddock at UCLA. Anderson and Knight have the second- and fourth-fastest 100 times in the U.S. this season, 11.10 and 11.11.

Past meets at Hayward: Olympic Trials, 1972, 1976, 1980. NCAA championships, 1962, 1964, 1972, 1978, 1984, 1988, 1991, 1996, 2001. AAU/TAC/USATF meets, 1971, 1975, 1986, 1993, 1999, 2001. AIAW meet, 1980. World Veterans Games, 1989. USA National Junior Olympics, 2004.
