TINSELTOWN HOPE FOR SACKED ERIC.
AFTER saying goodbye to BBC's River City soap this week, actor Eric Barlow could soon be off to Hollywood.Burly star Eric plays pub boss Tommy Donachie, who is to be murdered in Thursday's episode.
But the 44-year-old actor hopes to land a role in Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone's historical epic Alexander The Great, starring Irish heart- throb Colin Farrell.
Eric said: "They want Irish and Scottish guys around Colin. It would be great to get the part."
His final scene in River City will see him being battered on the head with a wrench as he tries to rescue step-daughter Kirsty (Kari Corbett) from an escaped serial killer.
The dramatic exit comes almost a year to the day Eric filmed his first episode as Tommy.
Eric was told he was being written out while on a Christmas break with his partner, Linda, and their two-year-old son Joshua.
