PALATINIT is one of the fastest-growing members of the Suedzucker Group, one of Europe's largest food producers. PALATINIT develops, manufactures and markets ISOMALT, a unique sugar replacer derived exclusively from sugar (sucrose). State-of-the-art production facilities are located at Offstein, in southwest Germany. ISOMALT is a bulk sweetener that can be substituted for sugar in a 1:1 mass ratio. Similar to regular sugar in taste, ISOMALT offers a number of physiological and technological advantages. It is tooth-friendly and has only half the calories of sugar. In addition, its low glycemic response makes ISOMALT beneficial for health-conscious people, including those with diabetes.
Final products containing ISOMALT possess excellent stability, even in relatively high-humidity and high-temperature environments. As a result, these products feature outstanding storage and shelf-life properties as well as a high degree of flexibility in their packaging.

ISOMALT is currently being used by food as well as pharmaceutical manufacturers as a nutritive sweetener, bulking agent, carrier, anti-caking agent, (sequestrant) texturizer, stabilizer, oral care agent, and anti-humectant agent. PALATINIT recently introduced the new ISOMALT Family, which consists of the following tailor-made variants:
* ISOMALT ST is widely used as an all-purpose excipient in a range of ethical, OTC and nutraceutical formulations. For oral applications like high and low boilings, medicinal gums, gum lozenges and coated products, the low solubility of ISOMALT ST results in slow dissolution kinetics of the finished products. This gives active ingredients more time for absorption by the oral mucosa.
* New ISOMALT DC is especially designed for direct tabletting. It has an excellent flowability, does not stick to tabletting tools, and requires only low release forces. In addition, it is highly flexible and delivers tablets with almost any desired hardness and dissolution characteristics, be it lozenges, chewables or effervescents.
* New ISOMALT GS is the variant of choice for nutritional bar centers, soft chewy boilings, and coated pharmaceutical chewing gums. Due to its composition, new ISOMALT GS exhibits a fine solubility, resulting in an increased impact sweetness and flavor release.
* New ISOMALT LM is especially designed for chocolate manufacturing. With its very low crystal water content, new ISOMALT LM allows standard processing and conching temperatures to round off the pure cocoa flavor profile, and delivers good snap and melting behavior in the mouth. The sweet taste and melting behavior provided by ISOMALT LM make it an ideal sugar replacement in chocolate and cocoa products.
