ANOTHER of Birmingham's Michelin star restaurants is set for a major revamp this summer.

After Simpsons in Edgbaston announced plans to extend the dining room at their Grade II-listed building, Glynn Purnell has told diners his restaurant in Cornwall Street will be undergoing a refurbishment when it closes for 18 days at the start of next month. The energetic chef is promising a more "flamboyant" feel to the restaurant when it reopens on August 20.

Purnell's pastry kitchen is also being expanded to allow more space for developing the restaurant's dessert and pastry menu.

Fans of Glynn are also awaiting the launch of the new Harvey Nichols at The Mailbox where the chef is curating the menu for a 40-seat restaurant.
