To call the K2 - the restaurant, not the mountain - a Balti house would be to do it a great injustice.
True, it's near the heartland of Birmingham's famous Balti belt and just a stone's throw away from the dozens of curry houses that straddle the Balsall Heath-Moseley border on Ladypool Road.
But, to put it bluntly, the K2 is in a class of its own when it comes to fine Indian cuisine.
Specialising in Kashmiri and Persian dishes, the K2 chose to stick to a selection of expertly-prepared meals which have become a hit with a loyal clientele.
My companion and I headed for the K2 after enjoying a couple of well-earned after-work pints across the road at Moseley's Fieldmouse and Firkin pub.
We got our meal off to a mouth-watering start by sharing a mixed grill appetiser (pounds 6.50). A combination of lamb chops, chicken and lamb tikka, tandoori fish and seekh kebab was more than enough for two people.
Although the K2 does still offer some Balti dishes, previous experience had taught me that they are not the restaurant's forte.
Instead, I opted for a lentil-based prawn dhansak (pounds 6) while my companion chose a mild chicken jalfrazi pounds 6.50). Both of us helped our meals down with naan breads (pounds 1.20 each) and without any complaints.
A couple of beers took the bill to a very reasonable pounds 26.89.
