Republic, a provider of finance and technology, has announced James Newman as its new general partner - fund manager and vice president of Operations.

With over two decades of expertise in traditional finance, venture building, and the Web3 and digital assets sectors, Newman's appointment marks a significant milestone for Republic's growth.

Newman's career includes roles across the Brevan Howard and Web3 ecosystem, where he focused on principal investing in Crypto, Web3, Fintech, and Frontier Technologies. As a founding member of WebN Group, he contributed to incubating and scaling successful startups like Twinstake, TruFin, Libre, Geometry, and Soter. He has also worked with Elwood, a Goldman Sachs-backed digital asset platform. Before his involvement in Web3, Newman spent nearly 15 years in investment banking, specialising in multi-asset trading, derivatives, sales, and structuring at global financial institutions.
