Opera-Theatre de rimouski in June premiered Colin.

Doroschuk's Evangeline, based on Longfellow's 1.847 epic poem in which the eponymous heroine searches for her lost love, Gabriel, after the Acadian expulsion. Billed as a tragedy exploring the nature of fidelity, hope and love, the premiere featured soprano Saharah Sloan and tenor Pasquale D'Allessio as the young lovers, and baritone Dion Mazerolle as the Narrator. The piece was commissioned by the Festival d'Opera de St Eustache in Quebec and was performed there in a reduced concert version in 2012. Doroschuk was a founding member of the successful Montreal-based pop group, Men Without Hats, but has over the past two decades increasingly turned his attention to opera and classical music. With a music degree from McGill University, he has been active as a composer, impresario and musician, including six years as Artistic Director of Montreal's Northern Opera Theatre, served as the main creative force behind the electric opera touring ensemble, Centrifugal Force, and worked for four years as composer-in-residence- of Ballet Victoria in B.C.
