Monie trouble.
Rival coaches John Monie and Shaun McRae have stirred up a hornets nest by wanting to scrap the Boxing Day game between Wigan and St Helens.The festive encounter between Rugby League's "old firm" has been relegated to a friendly after the switch to summer rugby.
And Wigan coach Monie and his opposite number want to consign the traditional scrap to the dustbin because it comes too early in pre-season preparations and runs the risk of unwanted injury.
But Friday's clash still pulled in more than 15,000 fans - twice Wigan's average Super League home gate last season.
And it would have been close to 20,000, but a lot of Saints fans stayed away when they found out McRae was fielding a side packed full of youngsters.
The clubs shared receipts of pounds 115,000.
