Mob drag man onto busy road.

A MAN in his 60s has been treated in hospital following an attack in Co Down.

The man was walking on the Belfast Road in Bangor shortly after midnight yesterday when he was assaulted by four youths who dragged him onto the Bangor-bound carriageway.

He managed to get off the road, but was dragged back by the youths, forcing drivers to swerve to avoid hitting him.

The attackers took the victim's wallet and keys.

Police at Bangor have appealed for information on the attack and have asked the drivers who swerved to avoid the victim to come forward.

The attack follows the murder of a pensioner in a similar attack last month.

Frederick Russell McMahon, 70, was savagely beaten in Bangor's Castle Park on July 26.

Mr McMahon sustained fatal injuries while walking through the park, behind Bangor Abbey, towards his Whitehill estate home.
