Meet our junior Cup holders.
HUNDREDS of school pupils enjoyed an honour usually reserved for the nation's soccer heroes when they became guardians of the FA Cup.The Coventry schools - Deedmore special, Annie Osborn primary and secondaries Lyng Hall and Foxford - shared the famous trophy for around 90 minutes each in a unique event organised by the city's Education Action Zone (EAZ) and one of its partner companies, Axa Assurance.
For one teacher, the occasion brought back memories of Coventry City's most famous day.
In May 1987, Tahira Karamat, Annie Osborn school's newly-appointed EAZ co-ordinator, was just 17 when she joined thousands at Wembley to witness the glory of Sky Blues winning the very same trophy.
"It was fantastic." she said. "The best day of my life."
Memories flooded back when she learned the cup was coming to her school and she would be able to share her enthusiasm with a younger generation.
Yvonne McCall, head teacher at Deedmore special school, agreed.
"It's a wonderful opportunity. The FA Cup is about doing your best. It is an inspiration."
