LIFEBOAT BUOY; EXCLUSIVE.
Byline: By RICHARD SMITHBRAVE Joe Butchers is now the youngest lifeboatman in Britain - aged just 16.
The teen has been given the go ahead to join his older colleagues on emergency calls after joining as shore crew and starting his training in September.
While his friends are at school, Joe will now risk life and limb on call outs in the English Channel for the Isle of Wight's independent Freshwater Lifeboat. The minimum age people are allowed to join the RNLI as a lifeboatman is 17.
Joe said: "I can't wait to go on my first emergency shout. My dad is a fireman so I guess the fact he dashes out on emergencies has got something to do with it."

THE Freshwater Lifeboat was set up in 1972.
IT is an independent organisation.
LAST year it answered 29 emergency calls.
