From panto to club hit.
SHE's been dancing since she was a toddler and now Nazene Langfield is set to get us doing the same. The 19-year-old beauty is one half of Rezonance Q the latest Liverpool dance act to rock the nation's dancefloors.
Their track Someday is Number 1 in clubbing bible Mixmag's dance chart and looks set to smash into Sunday's top 40. It's no wonder life for the Stoneycroft singer is a bit of a whirlwind. ``It's crazy at the moment,'' she says.
But as a former pupil at the Elliott Clarke Theatre School, which launched the likes of Claire Sweeney and Jennifer Ellison, Nazene should be able to handle the attention.
``My mum sent me to dancing lessons because I was very shy and she hoped it would bring me out a bit,'' explains Nazene.
``I did my first show - Joseph at The Liverpool Empire when I was six.''
She's performed in the West End and toured as Blousy Brown in Bugsy Malone, as well as playing Snow White in a Disney tour (see our picture, inset) . ``I have been in a pantomime every single year. Last year was the first one I missed because I was too busy promoting the single,'' she laughs. ``After leaving Elliott Clarke I went to the Merseyside Centre of Dance and Drama,'' explains Nazene.
``In my spare time I was spending a lot of time with bands around Merseyside. I also sang in cabaret doing mainly cheesy covers like S Club 7.
``I had never considered doing dance music but I love clubbing.''
It was in a club that Nazene met the other half of Rezonance Q, Society DJ Mike di Scala. ``Mike has been DJing for years and has played most of the clubs in the city,'' Nazene says.
``I knew him from when he was at the 051. He told me he had done this track - a remix of Mariah Carey's Someday and was looking for someone to front it.
``He asked me would I mime to it when he played it. At first I said no people would know it wasn't me, but Mariah's voice had been speeded up so you couldn't tell.
``Soon record companies became interested. They wanted to release it with original vocals, Mike knew I could sing and asked me to do it.''
The track was signed by Around the World Records, the label behind club star Kelly Lorenna and Flip and Fill. Of course these days a song is nothing without a video and for their promo Nazene and Mike stayed close to their roots. It was recorded at the 051 nightclub and was even directed by local film producer Colin McKeown.
``It was great,'' says Nazene. ``I had all my own friends who are dancers in it and did all the choreography myself. ``It's weird now that the video is out because people have started to recognise me when I'm out clubbing.''
In between promoting the single Rezonance Q are currently working on an album but Nazene still finds time to run her own dance school which she opened two years ago.
Predictions are that Someday will be a chart hit on Sunday but Nazene's trying not to get too excited. ``I'm trying not to think about what might happen,'' she says.
``But it keeps creeping into my mind.''
