Face of Scotland.

A BOY piper has beaten Sean Connery to become the face of Scotland in New York.

Daniel McAllister, seven, has his photo splashed across a specially- designed 'Tartan Bus' which is touring the streets of Manhattan.

The bus was commissioned for the massive Tartan Day Parade celebrating America's Scottish roots.

And now Scots tourism bosses are hoping Daniel's image will persuade New Yorkers to take a trip to the old country.

Amazingly, his mother Julie, from Bo'ness, West Lothian, did not realise her son's photo had been used until he saw himself on the news.

Julie, 30, said: "We were really shocked when we saw his picture on the Tartan Day highlights on TV.

" Someone must have taken his photo without us knowing when he played in the Millennium Parade in Edinburgh."

Karen Finlay of VisitScotland said: "Daniel is certainly the most famous Scottish face in New York, giving Sean Connery a run for his money."
