FOOTBALL: ROBBIE'S BACK ON THE JOB.
Byline: STUART JAMESROBBIE FOWLER was back on the goal trail for Liverpool yesterday for the first time after being assaulted outside a bar in the city.
Fowler, partnering Finnish new boy Jari Litmanen, scored early on against Sunderland in a reserve game behind closed doors at the club's training complex in Kirkby. He was still wearing plasters over the facial injuries he suffered in the unprovoked attack in the early hours of last Wednesday.
It was the second time the 25-year-old had been assaulted in the city and the incident led Chelsea to step up their efforts to lure the striker into a pounds 12million move.
But despite his return to action, Fowler will not be considered for Liverpool's Worthington Cup tie at Crystal Palace tomorrow.
