Engineers induct new officers.

The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York) inducted its new officers and board members for 2004/2005 on June 7 at the council's spring conference at the Southampton Inn on Long Island.

Andrew J. Ciancia, a principal of Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, P.C., New York City, will assume the presidency on July 1, succeeding Gary E. Loesch, a principal of the Melville, L.I., firm of H2M Group: Holzmacher, McLendon & Murrell, P.C. Mr. Loeseh now becomes ACEC New York's national director and as such will be the liaison between ACEC New York and ACEC, the national organization.

Mr. Ciancia joined Langan Engineering and Environmental Services in 1996 and became a principal in 1999, with responsibility for the New York City office. His major projects in Manhattan have included the Penn Station Redevelopment, Hearst Headquarters Tower and the Museum of Modern Art. Previously, he was a vice president at Woodward-Clyde Consultants, where he was involved in such projects as the Ronald Reagan Federal Triangle, the U.S. Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., and the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. Mr. Ciancia is an adjunct professor at New York University, where he has taught freshman engineering for the past eight years. He has also been active on the ACEC New York scholarship committee for 15 years.

Kelly, vp, Parsons Brinckerhoff Quade & Douglas, Inc., New York, N.Y.; Jay J. Simson, executive director, ACEC New York, Albany, N.Y.
