Cardiff City's epic journeys.

1. March 1968: Moscow Torpedo away in the European Cup Winners Cup

Journey: 1,685 miles from Cardiff to Moscow, 1,737 miles from Moscow to Tashkent - and back again.

Total: 6,884.

Cardiff City's journey took them to the heart of Soviet Asia - Tashkent in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The sub-zero temperatures in Moscow meant there was no chance of playing there.

The weather was milder in Tashkent.

The match was at the Pakhator Stadium, a 65,000 capacity venue. Only three Cardiff City fans made the trip - Bill O'Donnell, Jack Haines and Les Jones.

The Bluebirds lost 1-0 in Tashkent, won the return 1-0 and then earned victory in a play-off, again 1-0, to set up a semi-final against SV Hamburg.

Bob Wilson, John Toshack and Peter King were among the players who made that trip.

2. Two: June 1968: Post-season tour to Australia and New Zealand

Journey: 11,703 miles from Cardiff to New Zealand. 6,000 miles travelling to Australia and to games - and back to Cardiff.

Total: 29,406 miles.

The Bluebirds played 14 matches on tour, winning 12, drawing one and losing one.

Brian Clark, Les Lea and Toshack were among the players who went Down Under.

3. May 1969: Post-season tour to Mauritius and Zambia

Journey: 6,195 miles from Cardiff to Port Louis, Mauritius. 3,950 miles from Mauritius to Zambia and travelling to games. Then back to Cardiff - 4,935 miles from Zambia to Wales.

Total: 12,980 miles.

Barrie Jones, Sandy Allan and Clark were among those players in Mauritius and Zambia.

4. July 2006: This season's Cardiff City pre-season tour:

Journey: 4,628 miles from Cardiff to Vancouver, Canada. 1,000 miles travelling in North America - and then back to Cardiff.

Total: 9,256 miles.

Darren Purse, Steve Thompson and new signings Kevin McNaughton, Michael Chopra and Stephen McPhail will be in the City squad for their North American adventure.
