CORRIE BLAST PLOT FURY.

TOP soap Coronation Street was accused of insensitivity after last night featuring a hoax bomb call.

Granada chiefs broadcast an unprecedented message after the show explaining the episode had been recorded two weeks before the Omagh explosion.

Over 10 million viewers saw Toyah Battersby call police claiming to be an animal rights activist warning of a bomb at a magazine's offices. In Omagh last night, Presbyterian minister the Rev John Murdoch said: "I would have thought it was very insensitive."

But Granada defended screening the storyline, saying Toyah's action was "petulant, not an act of terrorism".
