TYNE Tees presenter Jonathan Morrell has said goodbye after being axed in a wave of redundancies.ITV has paid tribute to the front man of the Tyne and Wear and Northumberland broadcasts of North East Tonight, who was forced to leave as part of a cost-cutting exercise.
Under the new structure, ITV will no longer broadcast separate editions of North East Tonight for the Tees Valley and the north of the region.
Regional Director of ITV Tyne Tees and Border Graeme Thompson said: "Jonathan leaves with our thanks and best wishes.
He's a consummate and popular broadcaster and we hope we can work together in the future."
Jonathan, 38, said: "I have had great fun at Tyne Tees over the years and I hope to be back on television soon."
