Brutal exit of TV Bill heartthrob; EXCLUSIVE.

THIS is the gruesome end for The Bill favourite John Boulton - murdered by a colleague and dumped in a sandy grave.

The detective - actor Russell Boulter - is being written out of the police drama after five years in a brutal storyline.

He is battered to death by fellow Sun Hill officer Don Beech, played by Billy Murray, 57, who is also quitting the show.

Beech attacks Boulton after accusing him of corruption and buries his body at a power station.

A TV insider said yesterday: "It's no secret Russell has wanted to leave for some time and the powers that be feel Billy's character has run his course.

"Boulton and Beech have been at the centre of some of the biggest storylines in the series, so it's only right they go out with a bang rather than a whimper."

Russell, 36, told ITV bosses he wanted to work on other projects.
