Bahrainis face Qatar in Women's Football Cup Arabia.

BAHRAIN were drawn in Group 'A' with Palestine, Qatar and Syria in the Women's Football Cup Arabia 2010, to be held in the kingdom from October 18 to 28. The home side kick off their campaign on the first day when they take on Qatar at 7.30pm, to be preceded by the tournament's opener between Palestine and Syria at 4pm.

Bahrain's second match is on October 20 against Syria at 8pm while their third and last tie will be two days later against Palestine, also at 8pm.

The first round concludes on October 23, to be followed by the semi-finals on October 25 and the final on October 28.

The event is being jointly organised by the German Embassy, General Organisation for Youth and Sports as well as other relevant Bahraini sporting organisations.

The draw and tournament details were announced last night during a Press conference at the National Stadium's Conference Hall. It was attended by German Ambassador Dr Hubert Lang, organising committee deputy chairman Amal Al Dossary, preparations committee chairman Abdulrahman Askar, tournament director Sawsan Taqawi and other officials.

Taqawi said the matches will be held at two venues. The first and last day of the preliminary round, plus the semi-finals and final will take place at the National Stadium while Al Ahli Club in Mahooz will host the remaining matches.

The tournament will be accompanied by special cultural programmes. "There will be a presentation of the tournament anthem by the 'German Women Jazz Orchestra', to be presented by Deutsche Welle at the opening ceremony," said Taqawi.

She added that a three-day bilateral musical workshop by the 'German Women Jazz Orchestra', in co-operation with the Bahrain Police Band, will also be held on the opening day.
