Activity days are bursting at the seams.

Family Easter fun can be found at Killhope Lead Mining Museum over Easter weekend.

There will be an Easter Egg Trail for children, who have to follow clues to discover where hidden treats are to be found, and workshops to make seasonal crafts.

Tina Raynor, commercial services manager at Killhope, says: "As long as it isn't raining, the children will have a fantastic time as always. We have been running Easter fun days for a number of years now and they are a great success.

"The children love taking part in all of the different activities and parents get a great deal out of helping them.

"We are having `Hop into Easter' on from Friday through to Monday. We have an Easter egg fun trail in woodland on Sunday and Monday and Easter workshops making bonnets, bunny ears and decorating eggs.

"We have assistants running the workshops but parents are encouraged to get stuck in as well."

In addition to the trail and workshops, the museum will be open and visitors can don hard hats and wellies and, with lamps and a guide, enter the mine tunnel.

By walking through the water which flows through the tunnel, draining the workings deep within the hill, they can visit part of the original mine.

Hop into Easter runs from 10.30am-5pm this Friday until Monday at Killhope, The North of England Lead Mining Museum, near Cowshill, Upper Weardale, County Durham. Call (01388) 537505 or e-mail Killhope@ durham.gov.uk for information.
