'Field fans hated hero Duncan.
Chesterfield hero John Duncan was despised by the club's fans when he first became manager.Former player David Moss, now with Partick Thistle, revealed the Scottish manager introduced a long-ball game which the fans hated.
But now Dundonian Duncan's a hero down Saltergate way after leading the team of journeymen to a FA Cup semi-final clash with Middlesbrough.
Moss said: "John played the long-ball game and still does. But the Chesterfield fans hated it at first and I remember that at every game there were fans shouting 'Duncan Out'."
Moss, who was with Chesterfield for four years until last season, will be at Old Trafford for their semi-final date, but he insists: "I'm not envious of the lads, just happy for them."
