FOOTBALL: Bischoff is back at Molineux.
Byline: James NurseyGlenn Hoddle has bolstered his defensive options by taking Manchester City defender Mikkel Bischoff on loan again until the end of the season, writes James Nursey.
The 23-year-old signed for two months on loan at Molineux in the autumn of last year but his stay was cut short by a shoulder injury and he returned to Eastlands at the end of November. This time Wolves have an option to buy the defender at an agreed price when the loan ends.
The Dane has been a longtime target for the Molineux club and will come into contention for a place in the side to face Leeds on April 2.
'We have made approaches for Mikkel before but, under Kevin Keegan, we were knocked back,' said chief executive Jez Moxey.
'When Kevin left and Stuart Pearce took over, we reapproached the club and a deal was finally agreed last night [Wednesday].
'We have paid a significant loan fee for Mikkel (which would be deducted from any full transfer fee) but we think this is the most sensible way to move forward as Glenn Hoddle wants to assess the player.
'Mikkel did well during his time here earlier in the season but, obviously, that wasunder a different manager and now Glenn wants the opportunity to see him before we commit to a full transfer.'
Meanwhile defender Mark Clyde has not joined up with the Northern Ireland squad who will play England in a World Cup qualifier tomorrow.
Clyde was hoping his comeback from a knee injury would be advanced enough to play some part in the matches against England and Poland, but while that has not been the case, the club claim it does not signal a major setback for the 22-year-old and he is not in need of surgery.
'Mark is still feeling some discomfort in his knee after only playing 45 minutes of football in the last six weeks or so,' says physio Barry Holmes.
'After discussions with Mark and Northern Irish team officials, it was decided that he wasn't match fit enough for the rigours of international football. He will continue training at Molineux to build up his match fitness.'
Elsewhere Molineux trainees Chris Cornes and Martin Riley have signed professional contracts. The Worcester-born forward/midfielder and Wolverhampton-born defender have signed until June 2008.
Both players turned 18 in December
