Still on course for pop stardom.

Voted through The G4 band - with ex-Huddersfield student Matthew Stiff (left) - aim for success

G4, the operatic-style band featuring a former Huddersfield student, are still on course for stardom.

The four-piece band reached the next round of the big TV talent show The X Factor on Saturday night.

And they did so with their own rendition of REM's famous song Everybody Hurts.

G4, which features former Huddersfield University music student Matthew Stiff, were one of eight acts voted through to the next round.

The band are one of the favourites to win the event, although their opera style may not find favour with some people.

Matthew gained a BA degree and a Masters degree in Huddersfield. The other G4 members are Jonathan Ansell, Ben Thapa and Michael Christie.
