Scheming girlfriend STOLE my sperm to get herself pregnant; AMAZING CASE OF 'SAFE-SEX' LOVER WHO HAS MADE LEGAL HISTORY.

A STUNNED and angry father has made legal history after his devious girlfriend STOLE his sperm and made herself pregnant.

A court has ordered Jonathan Evans to pay maintenance despite scheming Corinne Tindall confessing she secretly inseminated herself with the contents of a used condom while he was in the shower after making love.

High-flying young businessman Jonathan - who was always careful to practise safe sex - could scarcely believe it when Corinne let slip the extraordinary truth about her conception weeks after he ended their short-lived fling.

He said: "When Corinne told me what she had done I felt sickened - I couldn't take it in. I didn't think anyone could stoop so low to do such a thing.

"She was a girl I barely knew who stole my sperm to get pregnant without my knowledge or consent."

Now in a landmark legal ruling - which could end up costing him more than pounds 86,000 - Jonathan has been ordered to pay for the upkeep of his two-year-old daughter Bronte until she is 16.

A judge ruled that regardless of how the baby was conceived, Jonathan was still her legal father and was responsible for her. He was told to pay pounds 350 a month maintenance and pounds 21,000 in legal fees.

The shocked pounds 35,000-a-year telecom manager said: "I have never disputed the fact that I am Bronte's father. I fought this case because I wanted justice for the way Corinne used me to become pregnant.

"But the courts sided with her. This ruling gives a licence to women to use men in any way they see fit. How does this affect the millions of men who have donated sperm? Can they now be sued for maintenance?"

But despite the fact he feels used and abused, Jonathan says the real loser in the case is little Bronte.

"What Corinne did to me was a terrible thing but it is even worse for Bronte. How is she going to tell her daughter how she was conceived and where her father is?

"Because I can never forgive Corinne for what she did, I can never have a relationship with my daughter - and that's the saddest thing of all."

The amazing story began in 1997 when Jonathan - newly separated from his wife Jane - met Corinne at a club in their home town of Leamington Spa, Warwicks. They went out on a few dates but Jonathan says the relationship was never serious.

He said: "I had just split up with my wife so the last thing I wanted was to get involved again.

"I certainly didn't want to conceive a baby with Corinne and I was always careful about contraception. I used a condom every time we made love.

"I knew from the start that she was due to go to Australia in a few weeks - so the relationship couldn't be serious.

"I had no plans for anything more than a brief fling but Corinne started to take it more seriously. She even talked about putting off her trip to Australia but I told her to go."

Jonathan expected the trip to mark the end of their relationship. But just a few weeks later Corinne dropped a bombshell in a phone call - she was pregnant.

Jonathan said: "I was shocked because we always used a condom - but I accepted it because I know they are not 100 per cent safe.

"I decided I would stand by Corinne and support the baby."

But just as Jonathan was coming to terms with the idea of fatherhood, Corinne let something slip in another phone call which shocked him to the core.

He said: "We were chatting about the pregnancy and out of the blue Corinne said something like: 'You almost caught me at it.'

"I was confused and asked her what she was on about. It was then that she told me exactly what she had done with the condom.

"She said she had taken the sperm while I was in the shower. I was stunned and couldn't take in what she was saying so I just rang off."

Over the next couple of days, Jonathan refused to take Corinne's calls so she wrote him a desperate and emotional letter in which she confessed to the whole thing. She said: "What I did was totally irresponsible, selfish and basically stupid. If I could turn back the clock and make it go away I would in a flash.

"All I can do is apologise profusely (if that means anything at all, which it probably doesn't or change anything).

"I can't explain why I did it. I have never done anything that malicious before or intentionally hurt anyone. I am so sorry to have caused you such hurt and will regret that stupid moment for the rest of my life. I have ruined not just my chance of happiness with you but our baby's too."

Then, in terms too graphic for a family newspaper, she detailed exactly how she took the condom and inseminated herself.

Jonathan was unmoved by the letter. He said: "Despite all the tears and regret, she couldn't give me a rational explanation why she had done such a terrible thing.

"I thought long and hard about it but I couldn't stand to be with someone so deceitful. When Corinne came back from Australia I told her I didn't want anything to do with her or the baby."

But after Bronte was born, Jonathan did agree to see her.

He said: "Although I was devastated by Corinne's betrayal, I felt I owed it to the baby to see if I had any feelings for her.

"I thought that in spite of everything I might be overcome by feelings of fatherhood. But when I held Bronte I didn't feel anything at all. It felt like I was holding someone else's baby.

"I knew there and then that there was no way we could ever have any kind of relationship as father and daughter."

Since that day in January 1998, Jonathan has never seen his daughter - although he did agree to have his name put on her birth certificate. Six months after the birth, the Child Support Agency sent him a letter, asking for details of his employment so they could assess how much he should pay towards Bronte's upkeep.

He was astonished and decided to fight the case - insisting that Corinne deceived him in order to become pregnant.

He was supported by medical evidence which said that artificial insemination with sperm from a condom was the most likely form of conception.

But after several legal hearings a High Court judge in Birmingham ruled against Jonathan.

He now feels doubly let-down - by Corinne and by the system.

Jonathan said: "It could be the green light for lots of unscrupulous and scheming women to do the dirty on men."

Leading London lawyer David Taylor, of Finers Stephens Innocent, said it was a unique case.

Mr Taylor added: "Sadly women have been deceiving men into getting pregnant for many years.

"No matter how women become pregnant, the fathers are responsible in the eyes of the law."

Although saddened and disappointed, Jonathan said he would now face up to his legal obligation to Bronte.

He said: "I could carry on with this case but I don't have the money or the energy to fight anymore. And it is not fair on Bronte.

"I don't know if my feelings for her will change in the years to come. It's not her fault I was so betrayed by Corinne."

Last night, Corinne refused to comment. However, despite admitting her trick, she claimed to the court she could have become pregnant during intimate foreplay.
