MP: South Pars Development Satisfactory.
TEHRAN (FNA)- Head of the Iranian parliament's oil and gas committee said expansion of South Pars phases is moving on well and more gas will be injected to the national gas trunkline as new phases come online as planned.
Nader Fereydouni told Shana that projects for development of the supergiant gas field are treading smoothly and the country will see gas recovery from the region boost by at least 100 mcm in the near future.
The MP added that the field could have developed more rapidly but given the US-engineered sanctions, the progress is acceptable.
He said some new South Pars phases are scheduled to become operational by the end of the current Iranian calendar year on March 20.
The supergiant offshore South Pars gas field, which is jointly operated by Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf, will make the highest contribution to Iran's enhanced hydrocarbon recovery. Eight megaprojects, valued at $53 billion, are currently under way in South Pars. They are forecast to come on-stream up to 2018.
