AIR rage drunk Colin Coats has fled his luxury Spanish villa after being exposed by the Daily Record.

The bankrupt former millionaire went to ground after being arrested and released by the Civil Guard at Alicante airport on the Costa Blanca.

Dad-of-three Coats scarpered for the pounds 400,000 mansion after the Record revealed how he allegedly attacked a man and a crew member on an easyJet flight and threatened to bomb passengers, throw acid in their eyes and burn their children.

Sources close to the 39-year-old said he plans to stay in Spain until the dust settles - because he fears arrest if he returns to Scotland.

But he hasn't been seen for days by neighbours near his four-bedroom house in the beautiful seaside town of Moraira, 60 miles from Alicante.

One said: "He arrived on Wednesday after the story was in the Record but I haven't seen him since.

"I think he's probably hiding out and keeping a low profile.

"Colin comes out here a lot and I've heard he's always getting into trouble with the police.

"He used to come out with his wife Angela and their children but I haven't seen them for years.

"None of the neighbours take much to do with him because he's a dangerous man and we stay out of his way.

"He's either in there and won't answer the door or he's staying with friends. I think he's got pals in Benidorm."

Coats is said to have gone berserk on board the EZY6877 flight from Glasgow to Alicante at 35,000ft, 45 minutes before the end of the three-hour flight on Tuesday night.

He accused a passenger of chatting up his blonde girlfriend.

She dumped him in Spain and returned home to Scotland in disgust after his arrest.

Coats was handed over to Spanish authorities and banned for life by easyJet, even though he was released without charge.

However, the Record has exposed him as a violent criminal.

Coats, from Milton, Glasgow, wed Angela in 1991 and they have three kids. He once earned more than pounds 200,000 a year in Lon-d o n as an IT specialist for banks before moving into property development.

Ten years ago, Coats was fined in Ealing, London, for beating Angela up.

A year later, Rangers fan Coats got a suspended prison sentence for savagely assaulting a Celtic fan in a London pub.

The couple divorced in 2007 and that year Coats was charged with ramming Angela's car. The case collapsed after Coats claimed his car was stolen.

The following May, Coats assaulted Angela's sister Gill and attacked an elderly man who stepped in.

Flames He got two years' probation at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

Coats was also investigated last year after a pounds 1million home in Glasgow, belonging to his ex-wife, went up in flames. Police dropped the case for lack of evidence.

Now Angela has a 24-hour panic button in her home installed by cops.

A former friend revealed: "He went from unassuming IT geek to psycho gangster in eight years. He tends to threaten to burn people and burn their homes down. It's something he seems obsessed with."
