Getting the runaround.

Getting The Runaround

Attorney John Root of the Catlett Stubblefield Bonds & Fleming law firm at Little Rock may have put it best when he told us, "I know this sounds like you're getting the runaround."

Amen, brother.

Root was passing us on to Ron Quisenberry, chief financial officer of General Properties, who supposedly would tell us if his company had sold Midwest Lumber & Supply Co. of Fort Smith, which was for sale about a year ago.

Already, a spokesman at Midwest Lumber had refused comment, directing our call to Root. He, too, would neither confirm, deny nor divulge details other than Quisenberry's name.

Quisenberry adeptly returned the volley.

"We really don't comment on things like that," Quisenberry said. "You'll have to talk to our attorney."

But, Ron, we did that already.

"Oh, I'm sorry," he said.

Despite the "no comments," our sources (as you know, they're always reliable) say there is something to this story.
