round UP: Tour operator wins top award.

A COACH company celebrating its 90th birthday has been named one of the country's top tour operators.

Family-run firm Silver Star, based at Castle Square, Caernarfon, is run by managing director Elfyn William Thomas whose father Edward started the businesses in 1918.

The company has been named best coach tour operator at the Coach Tourism Awards 2008.

Silver Star had been nominated and shortlisted for a further two awards, Osian Tomos for best manager and Cledwyn Jones for best driver.

Mr Thomas said: "This is an extremely proud moment for myself, my family, and everyone involved with Silver Star Holidays.

"We couldn't have accomplished this without the hard work of every member of staff involved at our shop, offices and depot in Caernarfon."
