Libraries offer events for many age groups

Activities at the Eugene Public Library on Wednesday include a pre-school storytime for children ages 3 to 6 years old at 10:15 a.m. and 11 a.m., and "Teen Summer Cinema," featuring the roller derby movie "Whip It," at 2 p.m.

A "Water Wonders" presentation for children ages 6 to 12 will be held at 2 p.m. at the Sheldon branch library. For more information, call 541-682-8316.

Water conservation tour to visit Eugene

"The Responsible Bathroom Water Conservation Tour" will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Consolidated Supply Co., 110 N. Garfield St.

The tour has the goal of saving 2 billion gallons of water this year by replacing old or leaking bathroom fixtures with water-efficient plumbing products. It will visit more than 300 plumbing wholesale locations by November with a 44-foot-long, walk-through mobile showroom. There is no charge.

Music, dodgeball at community fundraiser

A "Go Pink at Summer in the City" will be held at the Broadway Plaza on Wednesday.

The city of Eugene and Ninkasi Brewing will present live music and dodgeball. Community dodgeball games begin at 6 p.m., and music from Volifonix and Sea Bell will begin at 7 p.m. Kids' art projects will be hosted by MECCA.

Oregon Imaging Centers will donate $1 for every audience member dressed in pink to support the 2010 Komen Eugene Race for the Cure.

912 Project meeting scheduled for today

COTTAGE GROVE - The Cottage Grove 912 Project will be at 6:30 p.m. today at Stacy's Covered Bridge Restaurant, 401 E. Main St.

The guest speaker will be Aaron Auer of Reviving Oregon's Amazing Roots.

There is no charge for the event.

The organization commemorates the achievement of Oregon's pioneers of faith.

Nonprofit group to offer forest tours

Forests Today & Forever, a nonprofit natural resource educational organization, will offer two free Forest Discovery Tours in partnership with Lane Community College. The tours will illustrate the differing goals and strategies of private and public forest owners and managers.

On Thursday, participants will visit the historic Hull-Oakes Sawmill, the last steam-powered commercial sawmill operating in the country today. On July 29, the Bureau of Land Management and Roseburg Resources will team up to review their long-term goals in the Coast Range forest, where ownership falls into a "checkerboard" pattern.
