Wenger wronged.

Arsene Wenger has been sent a grovelling apology from the news agency who wrongly claimed he had been sacked by Arsenal.

Gunners boss Wenger is still hopping mad at other ugly rumours flashed around the world.

In Tuesday night's match programme for the Coca-Cola Cup tie against Stoke, the Premiership leaders reproduced a "sincere apology" from gossip- mongers Cityscreen UK.

With a high-profile clash at Manchester United tomorrow and the derby with Spurs next weekend, Arsenal fear the Frenchman could become a target for terrace abuse.

Chairman Peter Hill-Wood said: "We were determined that those responsible for the mis-information that sparked the ugly rumours apologised publicly."
