TEARS FOR IRAN HOPE; WRESTLING.

IRAN'S Saeid Morad Abdvali was in tears as his 20-month Greco-Roman winning streak ended in a controversial defeat to defending lightweight champion Steeve Guenot.

Frenchman Guenot, 26, won the first period 3-0 after Abdvali was penalised for using his legs.

The Iranian thought he had taken the second period, but his throw was deemed illegal and the bout went to Guenot, leaving the defeated wrestler in floods of angry tears.

Guenot then lost in the semifinal to South Korea's Kim Hyeon-Woo, who meets Tamas Lorincz in the final after the Hungarian beat Georgia's Manuchar Tskhadaia.

Iran's hopes of winning a third Greco-Roman gold were kept alive by heavyweight Ghasem Rezaei, who will take on Russia's Rustam Totrov in tonight's final.
