SCHOOL LEAGUE TABLES: Tests just 'snapshot'.

The headteacher of Birmingham's top primary dismissed national tests as an inaccurate reflection on how a school is performing.

Margaret McConnell said they were just a snapshot of one day and offered a very narrow assessment of educational progress.

Ms McConnell, who is head of St Nicholas Catholic Primary School in Sutton Coldfield, said: 'I personally don't believe in the league tables and tests. I think it is more important that you are educating the whole child and that is not just one day.

'That means everything - their attitude to other people in the community. It is preparing them for the wider world.'
