Extending its reputation as the industry's premier visual systems provider, NEC (NEC Corporation, Tokyo, www.nec.com, www.necus.com) An electronics conglomerate known in the U.S. for its monitors. In Japan, it had the lion's share of the PC market until the late 1990s (see PC 98).

NEC was founded in Tokyo in 1899 as Nippon Electric Company, Ltd.
Technologies Inc. today announced four new multimedia presentation monitors.

Providing more monitor for the dollar, the feature-rich MultiSync(R) XP and XM Plus Series monitors utilize the latest technological advancements to provide the ultimate in large-screen image quality.

The MultiSync XM Plus Series targets the general presentation and group videoconferencing markets, while the MultiSync XP Plus Series offers the high-resolution display capabilities required to meet the presentation needs of imaging professionals working in workstation environments. Other markets for products in this category include A/V (1) (Audio/Video) Refers to equipment and applications that deal with sound and sight. The A/V world includes microphones, tape recorders, audio mixers, still and video cameras, film projectors, slide projectors, VCRs, CD and DVD players/recorders, amplifiers and  rentals, conference rooms or training facilities, classrooms, control rooms, public displays and information kiosks and tradeshow displays.

All MultiSync Plus Series monitors make an ideal match for existing system integration, providing RS232-compatible control, loop-through capabilities, intuitive and comprehensive controls, automatic signal detection and broad source compatibility.

"NEC Technologies is firmly committed to the multimedia presentation CRT (1) (C RunTime) See runtime library.

monitor marketplace," said Ben Jamison, director of marketing for NEC Technologies' Visual Systems Division. "The MultiSync XM and XP Plus Series monitors offer significant improvements over their predecessors at equal -- or, in some cases, smaller -- price points. As a category, the large-screen CRT monitor represents a significant portion of our business, and we're confident these products have a long life ahead."

Premium Performance at Realistic Prices

The MultiSync XM/XP Plus monitors utilize flat-square technology CRTs to furnish superior display performance and ensure images that deliver maximum contrast, sharpness and color saturation. Their screen surfaces also have an anti-static/anti-glare treatment, displaying images with less distortion, furnishing the image quality end-users have come to expect from NEC MultiSync monitors.

Up to four input sources (two data or two video, each with accompanying audio) can be simultaneously attached to any MultiSync XM/XP Plus Series monitors. In fact, PC and Macintosh(R) computer systems can be connected with no adapters using the included MultiCable(R) System right out of the box. With today's multimedia presentations incorporating data, video and audio from different sources, the benefit of the included wireless remote control is readily apparent. Switching between sources is as easy as a touch of a button, using a new, compact remote control that is included with each monitor.

All basic controls on the remote are "one-touch," eliminating complex command sequences. Additionally, on the MultiSync XM29 Plus(TM) and the MultiSync XP29 Plus(TM) monitors, front-panel controls provide access to NEC Technologies' exclusive OSM OSM Oregon Steel Mills, Inc.

OSM controls guide end-users through image adjustments, including image size/position, screen geometry and color temperature The measurement of color expressed in Kelvin (K). The reason this measurement is called a "temperature" is because it was derived from a theoretical object called a "black body radiator." When the radiator is heated, it changes from black to red to yellow to white to blue. , using intuitive icons, language and command sequences. Three color temperature presets are now included with the MultiSync XM/XP Plus Series monitors: 6500, 9300 and 10200 degrees Kelvin. OSM also identifies the graphics mode that the monitor is displaying, greatly simplifying configuration, adjustment and support.

As with all NEC MultiSync monitors, both the MultiSync XM/XP Plus Series monitors are Plug and Play-compatible and EPA EPA eicosapentaenoic acid.

The MultiSync XM37 Plus(TM)

For presentation environments that demand superior image quality and a very large screen size, the new 37-inch (35-inch viewable image size On a computer monitor, the viewable image size or VIS is the actual amount of screen space that is available to display a picture, without obstruction from the case or other aspects of the unit's design. ) MultiSync XM37 Plus offers the ideal solution. The MultiSync XM37 Plus monitor addresses the needs of the general presentation market, including corporate conference rooms and training facilities, classrooms, trade show displays and group videoconferencing.

Higher specifications, including vertical frequencies between 40-120 Hz, horizontal frequencies of 15, 31-64 kHz and a maximum RGB (Red Green Blue) The computer's native color space, which is the color system for capturing and displaying images. RGB was derived from our own perception of color because human eyes are sensitive to red, green and blue (see trichromaticity).  signal compatibility of 1280 x 1024 combine to provide superb image quality from a display monitor of this size. The MultiSync XM37 Plus monitor accepts signals from a variety of sources, including data (PC and Macintosh) and video (composite video A video color format that combines all three YUV video signals into one channel. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  for sharp images. Internal stereo audio capability is also included for true multimedia presentations.

The MultiSync XP37 Plus(TM)

Created to display high-resolution data images, the MultiSync XP37 Plus differs from the MultiSync XM37 Plus in its ability to support a horizontal frequency range of 15, 31-95 kHz. With these specifications, the highest in their class, workstation, architectural and imaging professionals have the ability to present work created in high-resolution graphic formats in a large screen environment.

The MultiSync XP37 Plus contains the same anti-static/anti-reflective treated flat-square CRT as the MultiSync XM37 Plus for superior images.

The MultiSync XM29 Plus

Users will notice marked improvements in overall image quality in the MultiSync XM29 Plus monitors for several reasons. First, its industry-leading, remarkably fine 0.60mm dot pitch provides the best possible display of 1024 x 768 images in this class of monitor. when combined with a new Microfilter(TM) technology CRT, the monitor delivers 20 percent better brightness and contrast than previous offerings in this category. Plus, improved dynamic beam focus capabilities enhance image sharpness up to 30 percent.

The MultiSync XM29 Plus operates at horizontal scan rates from 15, 31-64 kHz; vertical scan rates range from 40-120 Hz and incorporates a higher 60 MHz RGB bandwidth to support the display of high-resolution images.

As with all NEC Technologies MultiSync presentation monitors, the MultiSync XM29 Plus is Plug and Play-compatible and EPA EnergyStar-compliant and includes a universal power supply.

The MultiSync XP29 Plus

The MultiSync XP29 Plus is NEC's first offering in the high-resolution 29-inch monitor category.
