Byline: The Register-GuardBLACKOUT
BLACKALICIOUS, an alternative hip-hop act that was scheduled to play at the WOW Hall on Saturday, has canceled all of its Northwest shows because of illness. Saturday's show was to have been a make-up for an earlier performance that was also canceled for health reasons.
According to Direct Productions, the show's producer, Blackalicious lyricist Gift of Gab (Tim Parker) suffered a foot injury that was aggravated by diabetes and the stresses of touring.
"All of us regret not coming, but we will make it up to you in a major way," Parker said in an interview transcript released by the producers. No dates have been set for any rescheduled Blackalicious performances in the Northwest. Ticket refunds can be obtained at the point of purchase. IMPROV EVENING
MEMBERS OF the Portland band Canoofle don't just play live music, they also compose songs before a crowd, name them and then, to make things even more challenging, they swap instruments.
More than a run-of-the- mill improvisational act, the band works closely with its audiences and is continually coming up with new songs. Since 2000, the group has played more than 50 shows and come up with about 600 pieces of music.
Canoofle plays tonight at Sam Bond's Garage, 407 Blair Blvd. Eugene's own Wheel of Meat will open the show at 9:30 p.m. Cover is $3 to $5 on a sliding scale.
