Mother weeps as son admits raping her.

A MOTHER wept in the public gallery of Swansea Crown Court yesterday as her teenage son admitting raping her.

But the devastated 36-year-old woman made it clear she wanted her 15-year-old son helped, not punished.

Judge Durham Hall QC said yesterday the 'distressing, difficult, sensitive and bizarre' case was without apparent legal precedent in Britain.

The court was told that over the past few years the 15-year-old had been in a special children's home in the West Country due to his challenging behaviour.

On a visit home to his mother's home in t Swansea last July he raped her.

The police were called in but up until yesterday morning the boy had denied the sex attack on his mother.

A jury of six men and six women was sworn in at Swansea Crown Court to try the case.

But yesterday, the boy indicated he wanted to change his plea.

After formally pleading guilty as his mother watched nearby, the jury was directed to find him guilty.

The judge adjourned sentence on the boy yesterday for six weeks while detailed reports are prepared.

A forensic psychiatrist specialising in sexual offences will be brought into assess the youngster.

And a youth justice probation officer will be asked to write a report on the teenager's background.

The judge told the jury, 'This is a case of a boy raping his mother. She is in the court and as you can see finds it as uncomfortable, distressing and bizarre as everyone else.'

Pending the sentencing hearing, the boy was remanded back to the children's home in the West Country.

His behaviour at the children's home will also be monitored especially closely over the next six weeks.

James Jenkins, who was to have prosecuted during the trial, told the judge, 'The complainant has made it clear she is not interested in punishment.

'She wants her son to get the best assistance possible and will do everything she can to help him.'
