Married Robbo's fling with Sky girl.

SOCCER boss Bryan Robson had an 18-month affair with a TV sports reporter, it was claimed last night.

The ex-England captain regularly met Sky Sports News presenter Clare Tomlinson at his team's hotel before matches.

But their affair was discovered when his wife Denise burst in on them.

She reportedly stormed into the Middlesbrough manager's hotel room in the early hours after suspecting he had been unfaithful.

Robson, a 42-year-old father-of-three, and Clare, 30, were fully clothed but made no attempt to hide the truth.

A friend said last night: "He and Clare confessed all. They both knew the game was up.

"It was an ugly scene with shouting and swearing. Denise was furious, absolutely livid."

Denise bumped into Boro's first team coach Gordon McQueen, on her way out of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Leeds. She allegedly accused McQueen, a friend of Robson since their days at Manchester United, of helping him to cover up the affair.

Robson first met Clare at a match in 1994 when she was a media relations officer for the FA.

They became close during Euro 96 when Robson was working with the England squad.

Rumours of an affair were rife for months before they actually became lovers, according to pals.

One said: "The rumours drew them closer but they were just good friends for months. It's amazing they managed to keep it secret for so long."

Robson kept the affair hidden from Middlesbrough players and officials, even though he met Clare before matches.

The manager has finished with brunette Clare and told his wife he wants to give their marriage another try.

He and Denise share a pounds 500,000 mansion in Hale Barnes, near Manchester Airport, with children Claire, 17, Charlotte, 16, and nine-year-old Ben.
