MO V PAT; Battleaxe 'special' to tell all on soap grudge.
Byline: NICOLA METHVEN, TV EditorEASTENDERS' battleaxes Pat Evans and Mo Slater are to finally reveal the secrets behind their mutual hatred in an explosive soap spin-off.
They get drunk at a reunion and decide to have out their differences once and for all.
Viewers have long been aware that the grumpy grannies can't stand the sight of each other but have never really known why.
Now the soap "bubble", to be screened in the New Year, will turn the clock back and feature the pair as best of buddies in the 1950s.
In a series of flashbacks, friendship falters after Mo, played by Laila Morse, falls for Pat's brother Jimmy. The hour-long special will also explain for the first time why Pat - actress Pam St Clement - was forced into prostitution.
A show source said: "When the Slaters arrived in the square three years ago, Pat was horrified. Now the time has come for them to bury the hatchet - or at least try to."
