I won't steal Ray's glory.

Ian Durrant doesn't want to be the centre of attention when he makes his Rugby Park debut against Celtic in Ray Montgomerie's testimonial on Saturday.

The ex-Rangers star said: "It will be my home debut but I'm trying to play that down. I had my testimonial match against Sheffield Wednesday last season and Saturday is Monty's day.

"I hope that everything goes well for him - I'll just be happy to get a jersey."

Durrant made his Killie debut on their three-game tour of Germany and although Bobby Williamson's side won only once, he was delighted to get his new career underway.

The squad returned home last night and Durrant said: "It's been a punishing week but we'll soon feel the benefit of it.

"We've had three hard games and we'll have a couple of closed-doors matches before Ray's testimonial.

"You'll see a different Kilmarnock when we are up against Scottish sides and in the European tie."

Durrant has still to discover the precise role he'll be given and said: "I'll be playing in midfield or just behind the strikers."

Despite arriving home with striker Jerome Varielle in plaster, Killie boss Williamson is unlikely to be making a quick move into the transfer market.

Jim McIntyre was sold to Reading near the end of last season and with Varielle's ankle ligament damage certain to rule him out of next week's UEFA Cup trip to face Zeljeznicar in Sarajevo, Paul Wright will again carry Kilmarnock's attacking threat.

Williamson said: "I'm quite happy with the guys I've got. I have every belief in their ability."
