HOORAY HENRIK; Jansen lines up pounds 2m Swede.

New Celtic coach Wim Jansen has ordered Jock Brown to make Swedish striker Henrik Larsson his first signing.

Jansen made the hitman a star at Feyenoord after plucking him from Helsingborgs. Now the former Feyenoord coach wants to take 25- year-old Larsson from his old club to Celtic.

Larsson has won more than 30 caps and scored one of Sweden's goals in their third place play-off triumph at the 1994 World Cup.

The new Parkhead coach and Larsson are mutual fans - and Feyenoord admitted that the player's agent, Rob Jansen, has already been in touch on behalf of Celtic.

Feyenoord president Jurien van den Herik said: "There has been no official contact from Celtic, but Rob Jansen has indicated that they want to sign Henrik Larsson.

"He has two years of his contract to run, but everything is negotiable. If there is a good price for him, we can talk about it."

Celtic will take that as a green light to make their pounds 2m move - but another top-class target was struck off their list yesterday.

Inter Milan's Swiss midfielder Ciriaco Sforza joined Germans Kaiserslautern in a pounds 3m deal, dashing Jansen's hopes of landing him as a replacement for Paul McStay.

Celtic were last week knocked back by Hibs after making another attempt to snap up Darren Jackson.

Hibs boss Jim Duffy admitted: "There has been an approach from Celtic, but we didn't encourage any further dealings because the player isn't for sale."

Long-serving Peter Grant has moved a step nearer the Celtic exit. His move to Wolves is still on hold, but his agent, Raymond Sparkes, says the deal will go through.

He said: "The problem has been that Jock Brown and Mark McGhee have been unable to get together to discuss the deal."
