FOOTBALL: Houllier spending hits pounds 28m but won't stop there.
LIVERPOOL boss Gerard Houllier claims his summer spending spree may not be over as he closed in on completing Lee Bowyer's signing from Leeds. On a busy day at Liverpool, the Reds moved closer towards finalising Bowyer's pounds 9million deal following the midfielder's medical, while pounds 10million striker El Hadji Diouf signed a five-year contract to set the seal on his transfer from Lens.
World Cup star Diouf trained with his new team-mates for the first time at Melwood and he was joined by fellow new boys Alou Diarra and Bruno Cheyrou.
Houllier has also bought Diouf's Senegal team-mate Salif Diao to take his spending to close to pounds 28million.
Reports today suggested the Bowyer deal had stalled on personal terms but Houllier said he was ready to keep spending and add to the squad.
