Danks' brace helps Lye Town to victory; MIDS FOOTBALL LEAGUE PREMIER.

MARVELLOUS Mark Danks came off the bench to bag a brace as Lye Town eased to a 5-0 win at struggling Heath Hayes.

The former Worcester City and Stourbridge hotshot had only been on the field a matter of seconds when he fired home his first on 68 minutes before he wrapped up the scoring ten minutes from time.

Lye made the perfect start when Dan Jones gave them a fifth minute lead, with Damian Whitcombe doubling the advantage from the penalty spot just three minutes later.

A miserable afternoon for the home side was compounded when defender Tom Baggott was sent off on 15 minutes, then Harry Phillips headed into his own neat before half-time.

That result kept the Black Country outfit among the league leaders along with Boldmere St Michaels, who climbed up to third following their 1-0 defeat of Quorn.

Jason Holmes scored the only goal of the game on 20 minutes, while the Mikes also celebrated a first clean sheet of the season.

Alvechurch were convincing 4-1 winners at home to Dunkirk, thanks to a goal in each half from striker Andy Nicol.

Gareth Evans and Connor Deards fired the Church into a two-goal lead, before Nick Hawkins replied for the visitors.

But Nicol secured the points with goals two minutes before the break and midway through the second half.

Basement boys Tipton Town were beaten 4-0 at Shepshed Dynamo, Scott Staniland with two of the goals, while resurgent Rocester were 4-2 winners at Loughborough University.

Continental Star came from behind to win 4-2 at Basford - a result that knocked the home side off the top of the table.

Dan Elwell scored midway through the first half for Star but three goals in ten minutes after the break wrapped up the win.

John Griffin scored an early goal for Stourport Swifts but Long Eaton United hit back to win 2-1. Brocton came from behind to beat Causeway United 2-1 and it was the same scoreline at Walsall Wood, where Scott Cooper scored the winner against Coventry Sphinx.

Craig Gregg and Jamie King were on target for AFC Wulfrunians as they beat Coleshill Town 2-1, while Westfields were 3-0 winners at home to Kirby Muxloe.
