Carole Malone: HUNT BAN'S BLOODY SILLY.
Byline: Carole MaloneOUR Prime Minister and the Chancellor are at each other's throats. The NHS is approaching meltdown. Crime is spiralling out of control. We have a pensions crisis of catastrophic proportions and all we can talk about is bloody fox hunting.
I'm sorry but I couldn't give a monkey's about foxes, not least because our towns and cities are now over-run with the scavenging germ bags (just wait until one of them attacks a baby). But the fact is this is no longer an issue about cruelty. It's about class - pure and simple. The working classes, together with hard-core Labourites and the Government's politically correct mob, think the Hunt Brigade are a load of toffee-nosed tossers - and they may well be right.
But then the working classes also have a few bloodsports we shouldn't be too proud of - badger-baiting, cock-fighting, dog-fighting and just this week some boys from South Tyneside invented a new sport - and used a six-week-old puppy as a football. The screaming pup had to be destroyed it was so badly brain-damaged. And let's not forget that other bloodsport - football where baying fans often use each other's heads as kickabouts.
I'm not too keen on the idea of foxes being torn apart limb from limb but then neither do I relish the prospect of rural businesses going bust, thousands of people being thrown out of jobs and thousands of horses and hounds being massacred because they are no longer of any use.
