BROTHER JOINS EVIL WEST IN HELL.

John West joined his evil brother Fred in hell last night.

Both of them died at the end of a rope.

Bearded John, 54, hanged himself just hours before a jury was due to return a verdict that would put him behind bars.

He was accused of raping Fred's underage daughter Anne-Marie more than 300 times in the Cromwell Street House of Horrors.

He was also accused of raping and assaulting an eight-year-old girl.

But just after 9pm last night the father-of-four and grandfather was found dead in his garage.

The suicide was a chilling echo of the death of his older brother Fred, 53, who hanged himself in Winson Green jail in Birmingham on New Year's Day 1995, while awaiting trial on 12 counts of murder.

Fred's wife Rose West was later caged for life for her part in the sickening crimes. She is now in Holloway prison for murdering 10 women.

Police confirmed last night that John West's body was found hanging in his garage in Curlew Road, Abbey- mead, Gloucestershire.

A neighbour said: "The horror is never ending."

West was accused of raping his niece, Anne-Marie West, 32, on numerous occasions up until 15 years ago.

She claimed in evidence at Bristol Crown Court that she was first raped by her uncle when aged 10 or 11.

And she told the jury that twisted John West raped her 300 more times until she ran away from Cromwell Street just before her 16th birthday.

It was claimed that the other girl, who cannot be named, was raped on one occasion.

The jury were expected to return a verdict today.

Serial killer Fred tried to implicate his brother John in the killings at 25 Cromwell Street.

He told independent observer Janet Leach that there were 20 more bodies.

And he said wife Rose and John were among others responsible for the killings.

West also claimed his brother was having regular sex with twisted Rose.

The allegations were revealed as Mrs Leach gave evidence at the trial of Rose West last year.

But the trial judge, Mr Justice Mantell, banned reporting of John West's name in connection with the murder allegations until the end of his rape trial.

Fred and John West shared the same bed as they grew up in the Herefordshire village of Murch Marcle. They were inseparable as children.

John was best man at Fred's wedding to Scot Catherine Costello. He also signed the marriage certificate when Fred and Rose wed in 1972.

The certificate declared Fred was a bachelor.

The reality was that Catherine was dead, murdered by Fred.

Fred also murdered two of his daughters.

And, with Rose, he tortured young girls - forcing them to take part in sordid sex acts, before killing them.

Last night the surviving West brother, farm labourer Doug, 50, said: "I haven't spoken to John since he phoned me to tell me Fred had hung himself.

"He was very upset and I'm very surprised that he would do the same thing."
