Daniel Goldman, president of TEN, explained why exclusive agreements are beneficial to TEN's partners. "Scattering a game across multiple online services distorts customer perception, creates more work for the developer, and segments players," said Goldman. "But when a game is exclusively on TEN, publishers like Apogee can rely on a consistent and cohesive experience for all players." On TEN, people can play top multiplayer games within a community of players. Members can access the service through their own Internet connection or call one of TEN's nationwide modems which provide high-speed PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) The most popular method for transporting IP packets over a serial link between the user and the ISP. Developed in 1994 by the IETF and superseding the SLIP protocol, PPP establishes the session between the user's computer and the ISP using Internet access. While on TEN, members will have access to many community support features while remaining a click away from the World Wide Web. The software will be available initially for Windows 95 and later for the Macintosh. Leading publishers are now using TEN as a multi-point Internet gaming platform.
