'Angel' crushed by gravestone.

A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy crushed to death by a gravestone was described as a "little angel" by one of the men who struggled in vain to rescue him.

Reuben Powell died after the 5ft headstone fell on him while he was playing in Grove Road Cemetery, near his home in Harrogate, North Yorks.

Andy Adams, who lives near the cemetery, said: "He really was a little angel, a lovely little boy who always had a smile on his face.

"I think there had been some friends with him but they must have run off. It probably scared them."

Harrogate council leader Michael Johnston said: "It highlights these places are not playgrounds."

Reuben's mother, Janet, was last night said to be "distraught".
