"Guaranteed Annual Income: Is This Really Want We Want?".

Swanson, Jean. "Guaranteed Annual Income: Is This Really Want We Want?" Canadian Woman Studies/les cahiers de la femme. Special Issue: Benefiting Women? Women's Labour Rights, vol. 23, nos. 3/4 (Spring/Summer 2004), pp. 199-200.

The author debates the benefits and disadvantages of guaranteed annual income (GAI) for those who are poor in Canada. On the one hand, it would help people living in poverty and on the other hand, the challenges to wage hikes would probably be curtailed and poverty would be perpetuated. The current welfare system is inadequate and this article asks many questions with regard to the implementation of the GAI.
