Byline: Anna

Q I WAS over the moon at meeting a great new bloke and told my best friend all about him. But when I said I wondered where to buy a special present for a left-handed man, she said: "Aren't left-handed people deceitful or cursed?" I told her not to be superstitious, but she got me thinking. There's nothing in it, is there?

RENA, Telford

A OF course not, Rena! The way your brain and muscles are wired together determines right- or left-handedness.

Superstitions arose because the left side was associated with Lucifer and some strict mothers and nannies traumatised left-handed children by scolding them or binding their left arms to their bodies to force right-handedness.

Dismiss past stupidity and delight in your lovely new bloke.
